IT'S TIME TO START TALKING
The first and most important action we can take to prevent child sexual abuse is to start talking!
- Children and youth must become aware of the possibility and dangers of child sexual abuse at an early age
- Children and youth must feel safe to speak to their parent/guardian or other responsible adult about abuse that might be taking place
- Parents and adults within the community must start talking and helping each other to become better aware and informed on the dangers and risks of child sexual abuse, and what they can do together to stop it.
- Communities must start talking in schools, churches and synagogues, and other youth related organizations about how they can keep their kids safe and protect the sexual innocence of their childhoods.
These Innocence Mission programs will help to bring awareness and prevention to the occurrence and rate of child sexual abuse: Training, Speaking and Mass, Social & Local Media.
It is our goal to implement these programs in 2010 and to begin our work towards protecting children and reducing the rate of sexual abuse against them.
